DR. JOHN AZAR-DICKENS
Dr. Azar-Dickens is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Armstrong Atlantic State University, a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Augusta State University, a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from California State University, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Union Institute and University.
Dr. Azar-Dickens completed his psychology Master’s Degree internship at The Medical College of Georgia on both the psychiatric and eating disorders unit. He completed a Doctoral Internship year in the APA approved site at The Bradley Center of St. Francis Hospital in Columbus Georgia, with rotations in adult and child inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services. His Doctoral Residency was completed at Genesis Behavioral Healthcare in the area of Juvenile Forensic Psychology. Dr. Azar-Dickens has completed personal trainer programs through AFFA and AFPA.
He also is a certified indoor cycling instructor through RPM and has completed the foundation training in indoor cycling from Lemond. His primary areas of expertise are in psychological testing/evaluation and in exercise and sport psychology. Dr. Azar-Dickens is on the faculty of Berry College and teaches both in the Psychology and Exercise Science departments. Dr. Azar-Dickens is married with two children. He enjoys competing in triathlons and running marathons.
SUSAN J. GEDDES, M.Ed., LPC, NCC
Ms. Susan Geddes is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been in private practice for the past five years. She has been working in the mental health field for thirty five years. She has extensive experience and training in treating depression and anxiety in both adults and children. Susan is an experienced trainer/facilitator and provides on-site training/consulting in a variety of areas such as stress management, parent training, and communication building. She has developed a life long love of exercise and fitness and integrates this important aspect into all of her treatment interventions.
DR. BARBARA CARTER
Dr. Barbara Carter holds degrees from Jacksonville State University with an emphasis in Food and Nutrition, The University of Georgia Master’s Degree of Education in Food and Nutrition, Georgia State University Specialist Degree with major in Educational Supervision, and Nova Southeastern University with Doctoral Degree in the area of Adult Education. All of her educational pursuits include enhanced curriculum in nutrition. Her expertise is in analyzing food nutrients with the use of menu planning and daily food intake. Dr. Carter is a certified Director of School Nutrition with the Georgia State Department of Education and the United States Department of Agriculture and is employed by the Rome Board of Education as the System Director of School Nutrition. In addition to her primary job, Dr. Carter serves as an Adjunct Instructor in Nutrition for Berry College in the College of Health and Physical Education.
JEANNE M. SCHUL

Jeanne M. Schul is a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist with ISMETA, a Certified Land to Water Yoga instructor with Eastwest Somatics Institute, a Reiki Master, and an advanced trainer in Dream Tending with Dr. Stephen Aizenstat. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. She earned her M. A. in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, her M.A. in Dance from Texas Woman’s University and her B.A. in Dance and English from the State University of New York at Brockport. She also studied at Nottingham University; Louisiana College; Louisiana State University at Alexandria, Webster University, and Brigham Young University.
Early in her career, Jeanne completed an internship in Dance Therapy at Central Louisiana State Hospital. She has taught dance in the schools to children with a wide variety of challenges including those who were visually impaired, hearing impaired, physically disabled, ADHD, mentally retarded, learning disabled, and those with severe emotional issues. |
She has also collaborated as a consultant with elementary classroom teachers to teach academic subjects through creative movement in both private and public schools in Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Michigan, and Arizona for more than 30 years. Her Master’s thesis involved research with 3rd graders, focusing on the development of their self concept and their language arts acquisition as a result of their participation in creative movement classes.
Jeanne has taught yoga, modern dance, ballroom dance, and exercise classes for adult women and men since 1976. Her approach to both Yoga and exercise is therapeutic. She is primarily interested in helping her students develop a healthy connection between their physical bodies and their psyches by working on balance, strengthening, a flexible range of motion, spinal health, fluid breathing, concentration, and deep relaxation. Her teaching method addresses issues involving anxiety and weight management in her Yoga classes.
Ms. Schul has published many articles and poetry focusing on the integration of the body, mind, and spirit. Her current area of research is the intersection of dreams and dance. She is particularly interested in the creative aspect of dream work, which her dissertation—Creating Dances from Dreams: Embodying the Unconscious through Choreography—explores in depth. The dream groups she leads offer participants a creative way of working with their own dreams.
Jeanne is the Dance Specialist at Berry College where she teaches the dance program and serves as Artistic Director of the Berry College Dance Troupe. She is President of the Eastwest Somatics Network. She has served on the Board of Directors as Vice President of Dance for the state of Georgia, Southern District, and National Dance Association and is a frequent presenter at these conventions in the areas of somatics, yoga, and dance. She also presents workshops on Dancing the Chakras and Dancing Dreams at the Jungian Journey conferences. In 2008, Jeanne received the Honor Award for the 13 state Southern District for life time service in the field of dance. She was named the College/University Dance Educator of the Year in 2005 for the Southern District, as well as for the state of Georgia.
DR. RYAN BECK
Dr. Ryan Beck is a Licensed Psychologist who specializes in providing therapy and assessment services for children, adolescents and adults. His approach to therapy includes cognitive-behavioral, family systems, and psychodynamic theoretical models. Dr. Beck’s work is highly collaborative, person centered, and practical. It is growth-oriented and skill based which goes beyond coping, adaptation, or competence in managing difficulties. This approach recognizes that seeking help is a sign of emotional health and seizes opportunities for transformation and growth that can emerge from a crisis.
Dr. Beck works with individuals who are struggling with depression, anxiety, traumatic life experiences, relationship difficulties, stress management, attention deficit, and behavior problems. He conducts psychological evaluations for ADD/ADHD and learning disabilities, as well as behavioral, mood and anxiety disorders.
A native to Georgia, Dr. Beck obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Education degree in Community Counseling from West Georgia College. He received his Master and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University. He is married with one child. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and pets.
